General Announcements
We read "Max's Story". We practiced long and short vowels with our spelling words, wrote constructed responses to go along with the story, and worked on action and being verbs.
For writing, we have, and will continue, to work on Grinch related activities. We read the book, watched the cartoon version, listened to the music and during our fire flame party, watched the newer movie. The students brainstormed how to grow other people's hearts and we wrote about it. To prepare for next weeks writing, we talked about idioms, and completed an activity with them.
Other Books we read:
Math
We took a "quiz" on multiplying by tens. They all did a great job. We have moved to division, but we are going to keep practicing their multiplication tables. They need to know them fluently by the end of the year. We have set aside time in class to practice them. We have given them many tools, and they need to use which ones work to practice. We have started quizzing them orally. Once they pass a table, they record it on their personal tracker. They will be getting a passport of tables they mastered. In the Math/ Science google classroom, we have added division games and videos. Please feel free to review them with your child. It is ok to watch, or try, one of the online resources even if we have not gotten to it in class.
Social Studies and Science
We focused a lot on the writing process. We just practiced previous learned skills before moving on next week.
- Report Cards: There was an issue with the report cards being posted. That has been resolved and you can now view them on the parent portal. If you want a hard copy, please let Ms. Julia know and she will print one out.
- School Store: School store will be open for classes on December 19th. We are signed up to visit that day at 10:45 AM. Students can earn two blue school store dollars when they complete a mission on Zearn. This is a self paced program, but working on it from home does help speed up the amount they can cover. The blue school store dollars are hole punched three times. So the students can use one dollar three times.
- Popcorn Days: Our first popcorn day of the month was cancelled due to the snow storm. The next popcorn day is the third Tuesday of the month, the 17th I believe.
- Winter Break: Our last day is Friday 12/17 and we come back on 1/2.
- Year book order forms went home last week. Please keep an eye out. If you did not get one, please let us know and we will get one for you.
- The Army Band Concert is scheduled for December 17th.
- We have a Lippitt Chorus concert on December 18th and a Lippitt Instrumental concert on December 20th.
- Pajama Drive: Pj's will be collected from November 8th until December. They will be donated to the Pajama Program. As always, we will watch "The Polar Express" the day before winter break to celebrate the pajamas we collected for this season.
- The class redeemed their "fire flame" party. Good behavior was celebrated and demonstrated during this time.
- Thank you for the Clorox donations. We will never turn any wipes away, so feel free to send some in at any point. We are heading into the cold and flu season.
