General Announcements
We read "Harvest Birds" and worked on the comprehension skills that went along with it. The class practiced writing constructed responses with text evidence. We went over characters, problem and solution, and the purpose of folk tales.
For writing, we completed our five paragraph opinion writing. The entire class did a phenomenal job on such a large assignment. They used research skills, along with revising and editing skills. We sent a copy of the writing home, and we hung one in the hallway with their aliens they created.
Other books we read:
Math
We finished our division and multiplication unit. The class took the unit assessment this week. They did a great job on it. The next unit, area and perimeter, will build on the skills we just learned. Of course, we are continuing to practice our multiplication tables. Please help by reviewing the facts with your child. We have a ton of resources in the Math/Science google classroom.
Science/ Social Studies
Because of the need to finish iReady, we just practiced the concepts through discussions.
- Field Trip: Our field trip in next Wednesday. Please make sure your child is on time because we leave in the morning for URI.
- Jump Rope for Heart: Information on this went home this week. Please let us know if you need another copy. I believe all envelopes need to be in to Nurse Sivo by February 14th. Directions to make donations online were in the letter sent home.
- Popcorn was cancelled this week due to lack of volunteers. If you want to volunteer, please let the front office, or PTO know.
- Our iReady testing is completed. We will begin reading records next week.
