General Announcements
- We had a great Dr. Seuss spirit week. We raised $ for the Warwick Public Library. Thank you for participating.
- On Tuesday, the PTO had a story teller, Katie Latimer. Thank you so much. The kids had a blast.
- Spring Picture Day: March 19th. We will give you more information when we get it.
- No School: March 20th. There is a teacher professional development day.
- Popcorn Day: The next popcorn day is Monday, 3/16.
- A yearbook notice went home with an email to share any pictures you have from school events. If you did not get the notice, let us know and we will get one to you.
- Fifth Grade Fundraising Project: The fifth graders are sponsoring a kitten/cat fundraiser for PAAWS RI Animal Shelter. Notices went home this week. If you did not get a notice, let us know. Some things they are looking for are: cat toys, Friskies canned food, unscented kitty litter, hand soap, HE bleach, pellet litter, Purina kitten chow, Purina cat chow complete and paper towels.
- Girls Choice: Friday, March 20th at the Valley Country Club. Pictures start at 6 PM and dinner at 7 PM. Invitations went home this week and you need to RSVP by March 13th. Please let us know if you need another one.
- The Lippitt survey is still open. The results help determine what we do well, and what we need to work on. The survey is open until March 31st. The website is: surveys.panoramaed.com/ride/login the password to use is: 35123family
- We read "Jump" again. This is to help deepen our understanding of the story. We worked on writing constructed responses to demonstrate our understanding.
- Fact and Opinion was a focus this week along with cause and effect.
- We took a vocabulary test on the words we have been working on.
- We completed the opinion writing piece that went with the district performance assessment. The prompt was "Do you think spending money on early exploration in space?". They had to use the evidence from the articles we read for the assessment.
- On Dr. Seuss's birthday, we listened to a few of his books and wrote book reviews. They hung up in the hallway for the week.
- We began a St. Patrick's Day writing "quilt". This was a fun way to review ELA skills in a quick way.
- After lunch, we are reading "The Hero Two Doors Down" by Sharon Robinson.

- We took an assessment on perimeter, area, and problem solving. We have been working with fractions, but just as an introduction.
- Fractions! We learned how to break up a number line into equal parts (the denominator) and found the different fractions on the line.
- We took a lot of "notes" on the vocabulary and concepts for this unit. By the end of the unit we will need to know: what a fraction is, finding fractions on a number line, drawing models, comparing fractions and finding equivalent fractions.

- In the math/ science google classroom, we posted all of the iReady (the math series) interactive links. There are videos and games for the kids to practice. There are two online tools to help them compare fractions. Please check it out.
- Please continue to help your child practice their multiplication and division facts.
- We took a Science quiz on magnets. We decided to break up the test, into smaller quizzes. The next one we will take is about force.
